# Echo Bot — Browser Player Guide

Record a route, replay it as a cyan echo, then cooperate with your past self.
All twelve rooms are available from the in-game **Rooms** menu.

## Start playing

Open the published Echo Bot page in a desktop browser and choose **Play**.
Allow the game files to finish loading. Use a keyboard; touch controls are not
provided. Click inside the game if it stops receiving keyboard input. The page
also offers a standalone Mac download, which works without an internet connection.

Your browser may require a click or key press before sound starts. **M** toggles
mute. Click **Audio · M** for separate Master, Music and Effects sliders.
Preferences are saved in this browser when local storage is available. Private
browsing, storage restrictions or clearing site data can remove them.

## Controls

| Key | Action |
| --- | --- |
| A / D or left / right arrows | Move |
| Shift while moving | Sprint |
| Space, W or up arrow | Jump; the in-game prompt identifies rooms with a second jump |
| R | Start a fresh recording; press again to save |
| E | Save an active recording and replay it, or replay the saved take |
| X | Retry; the boss keeps the current stage and its previous saved take |
| Esc / Menu | Pause or resume |
| M | Mute or unmute |
| 1–9, 0, −, = | Select rooms 1–12 |

Use the page's fullscreen control if the browser reserves F11. Escape can leave
browser fullscreen first; press it again when necessary to open the game menu.
**Quit game** returns to the launch page. Reloading, quitting or changing rooms
clears the current attempt. Room progress and recordings are not saved.

Pausing freezes the puzzle and sound. Merely changing tabs releases held
movement and fades sound; use the pause menu when you want to stop the puzzle.
After resuming, release and press movement keys again.

## First Echo

Press R, walk onto the round floor plate and press E. Your echo repeats that
route and holds the plate. Move the live robot, jump the step and pass through
the open door. There is no rush: the echo holds its last pose indefinitely.

Later rooms need pauses on switches to give your live robot time to ride lifts
and cross bridges. Replace a short recording with R and try again.

## The Foreman

Each of the three stages ends at the same large SHUTDOWN button. Record a route
onto it, press E, and then join your echo. The LIVE and ECHO lights must be on
together. The stages use jump crates, a moving platform and a timed retracting
bridge. The third shared activation completes the encounter.

## Compatibility and credits

The game needs WebAssembly and WebGL 2. A current desktop browser with hardware
acceleration is recommended. If loading fails, reload the page or try another
browser. Browser or device restrictions may prevent graphics, audio or saved
preferences from working. See the repository's TEST_RESULTS.md for the tested
browser and the limits of that verification.

Echo Bot includes original workshop artwork, two original music tracks and
24 synthesized sound effects. It runs on Godot Engine 4.7.2. Engine and component
notices are provided in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt; they do not license the game's
original material as open source.
